Signal, Canva among digital apps hit by major service disruptions

Others which have been affected include Roblox, Snapchat, Fortnite, Amazon, Canva, Coinbase, Ring, Duolingo, and more.

Two widely used digital platforms, Canva and Signal, were among those which are experiencing major service disruptions, leaving users unable to access core features and raising concerns over the growing frequency of such outages.

Others which have been affected include Roblox, Snapchat, Fortnite, Amazon, Canva, Coinbase, Ring, Duolingo, and more.

The issue began with Signal, which went down on October 20, 2025, an hour before its outage was confirmed by the platform.

President of Signal Meredith Whittaker has confirmed the outage on social media:

"PSA: We're aware that Signal is down for some people. This appears to be related to a major AWS outage. Stand by," she said.

“Yes, we are detecting problems with Signal that began one hour ago,” the messaging app stated. Many users were unable to send or receive messages, with no clear explanation provided so far.

The company is still investigating the issue and has not announced when full service will resume.

This disruption came shortly after a previous incident on October 11, when Signal was offline for 43 minutes. The quick return of technical issues within days has unsettled many of its regular users, especially those who depend on it for secure and private communication.

Just as Signal’s issues were being reported, Canva was hit with a separate but equally frustrating problem.

Canva posted a series of updates confirming high error rates across the platform. The disruption affected users’ ability to open projects, access tools, and use key functions of the design site.

“We are currently experiencing increased error rates, which are impacting functionality on Canva. Our team is actively investigating the issue and working to restore full access as quickly as possible,” read Canva’s update.

The statement was issued at least four times as the team worked to manage user expectations while troubleshooting the problem.

By around 11 am, both platforms remained unstable, with users still locked out or facing delayed access.

While Canva and Signal have promised to restore services, neither company has provided a timeline or further explanation. Users were left refreshing status pages and social media, hoping for a resolution.
